Green Manufacturing And Recycled Shutters In Honolulu

We offer window treatments that are recyclable or contain some recycled material in them because we want to offer you sustainable shutter products. Polywood® shutters are not only a fully recyclable shutter, but they also contain up to 20% recycled Polywood material. We’re the only shutter company in Honolulu or even America that does that.

Sunburst supports green products, designs, and buildings. We aim for reusing materials whenever it’s feasible. We recycle water that cools down parts when they’re finished in the ovens. We reuse packaging supplies. We reuse shutter scraps – or regrind them and turn them into new shutters. Every year we recycle hundreds of tons of materials.

When we prepare our window treatments for transportation to your residence for installation, we put reusable corner pieces on the louvers’ edges and use minimal cardboard to pack up the shutters.

Non-Toxic Paint Finish For Shutters

Our plantation shutters are coated with patented paint finishes that are environmentally safe – and are even below the standard volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions allowed. In our manufacturing process, our paints don’t give off fumes. We mean it when we declare our paints aren’t toxic.

Polywood Shutters don’t emit dangerous gasses – so you and your loved ones can breathe easier and savor your window treatments.

The Only Shutter Recycling Program in Honolulu, HI

If you ever want to switch out your window treatment styles, we provide a shutter recycling program in Honolulu to keep Polywood shutters out of landfills. You simply have to take down the shutters yourself, and call our store manager, Darren, at 808-797-2004 to set up a pick-up. We will pick up your shutters and reuse some part of them in future Polywood shutters. This is true for Polywood shutters only—we don’t recycle other shutter brands.

With this program, you can recycle Polywood shutters at no cost to you. And, together, we’re assisting in keeping the environment green in Honolulu.
