Announcing Our Spring Share Your Shutters Winner

Darren Wong

We’re moving through springtime here in Honolulu, but don’t think we forgot about our quarterly Share Your Shutters contest. Spring’s contest winner is Tonya S., who submitted some photos of her new shutters that really show off some great design choices.

Tonya’s house features some stunning new Polywood® plantation shutters in the dining room. Since the shutters are shut, you can really get a look at how much control plantation shutters really give you over your lighting. Imagine that dining room with some softer lighting; it’s almost a great setting for an intimate candlelit dinner, right? With plantation shutters in your dining room, you can capture that exact mood no matter what it’s like outside.

Also of note is how the white shutters complement the white trim near the floors as well as the white ceiling. Those neutral accents make the black wood furniture and the wood floor’s natural color shine even more.

That wasn’t Tonya’s only photo submission, however. She also shared a photo of her brand-new sliding barn door shutter!

There are a few reasons we love this barn door shutter. First off, it looks fantastic. The homespun aesthetic of the wood panel with that sleek jet black hardware above give an enduring yet comfortable look. What we like even more than the shutters’ looks is how practical it is. The barn door shutter sits off the window frame, so it can effectively block light while still allowing the window to operate.

Because the shutter sits on the frame, Tonya can still make use of that deep window jamb, too. For instance, if she wanted to set a plant on the sill to get sunlight, she could even close the shutter so it can catch some rays while keeping her home as dim or bright as she wants.

Tonya tells us that this is the third time they’ve had Sunburst install window treatments for her home, and we want to thank her for repeatedly choosing us for all her window design needs. For being selected as our Share Your Shutters feature this quarter, Tonya will receive a $100 gift card to a restaurant in her area.

Think your shutters should be featured here? We want to see them! Share a photo of your home featuring your shutters with the hashtag #ShareYourShutters, or post a photo on our Facebook page. We’d love to show off some shutters from a Hawaiian in our next update!

Or if Tonya’s photos make you feel like your house is missing a little something, we want to help. Call 808-797-2004 today to talk to one of Sunburst Shutters Honolulu’s window design experts to begin.
