Announcing the First Share Your Shutters Winner of 2017!

Darren Wong

A new year means new opportunities to revamp your home design, and gorgeous new shots of shutters in houses in Honolulu and across the country. The new year also means a new winner for our Share Your Shutters contest, and the first of 2017 is Elk Grove, California resident Katie S. for her Polywood® plantation shutters.

Elk Grove is located in Northern California and is just one of the many places around the country whose homes can benefit from Polywood shutters no matter the season. Even when not closed tightly like in Katie’s photo submission, plantation shutters block a good amount of outside light from flooding into the home. In Elk Grove or in Honolulu, that’s a boon to any savvy homeowner who wants total light control in their space.

Plantation shutters also block thermal energy, which means they’re ideal for homeowners who experience sweltering summers or cold winters, or who just want to maximize their home’s energy efficiency. That results in a more comfortable home and money saved each month with lower utility bills.

Katie’s new shutters also capitalize on some newer home design trends. Neutral-toned settings such as her tan wall are becoming extremely popular, with contrasting splashes of colors–in this home the white of the Polywood shutters–providing points of interest throughout the room. Offered in various white and off-white shades, plantation shutters can fill a great niche in contemporary home design.

As the winner of our Share Your Shutters contest, Katie will receive a $100 gift card to a nearby restaurant, in addition to having her plantation shutters featured with our previous winners.
